The Orgasm of Purpose

The Orgasm of Purpose

Since the combination of COVID lockdowns and daylight savings time gave “night” a new meaning, I’ve taken to going to bed a 6:30 p.m. and waking before 3:00 a.m.. I’m privileged in having my own business and making my own hours… and I’m blessed to be in PrimeTime, and no longer caring for a toddler (we can talk about caring for a 19-year-old attending college from the kitchen table another day).

This morning, pre-dawn, as I was preparing to record a session on PURPOSE for PrimeTime women, I came across this video of Ann Wilson covering “Stairway to Heaven” at the Kennedy Center Honors in 2012.

She was 62 when she performed this.

The living members of Led Zeppelin were brought to tears.

Michelle and Barack Obama could barely hold themselves back from standing to dance.

Audience members lifted their hands into the air, open-palmed, to catch and hold the vibration.

80 people, including an orchestra and two choirs were involved.

Ann had less than one hour to rehearse…

Here’s what she said about performing one of the greatest rock anthems of all time, in front of its creators:

“I actually felt every second of it as a real, not to overstate it, but pretty damn close to orgasmic in terms of bliss. I felt wide awake and alive, and I felt the emotional content of the song all the way down to the ground.”

Did I mention she was 62?

I watched this three times this morning as I prepared for my Saturday, locked in my house and grateful for the opportunity to be so. In awe of PrimeTime women everywhere who are handling shit for their families, their businesses, their co-workers, their neighbors, their friends…

And each and every time, I caught my breath at the line in this song that’s ALWAYS touched me at the deepest place in my heart:

Yes, there are two paths you can go by,
But in the long run,
There’s still time to change the road you’re on.

There’s still time to change the road you’re on.

This morning (Saturday, January 19, 2020), at 8:00 a.m. Pacific, I’m recording a session about PrimeTime PURPOSE. It’s an hour of inquiry. An hour of dropping into your true center and asking yourself how you’ll show up and make a difference in the second half of life. About how you’ll feel awake and alive–and feel the emotional content of your own life, right down to the ground.
Long past 62…

This is a session that was meant to be behind a paywall for a course I’m creating. But I had some tech issues at the first live recording. And I thought, “WTF?” Why not just open it up to some women who are interested in starting one of the last Saturdays of 2020 with some meaningful AF work? So I’m notifying a slice of my audience.

This morning’s session on PrimeTime PURPOSE is FREE.
There’s no prep. No right or wrong. No heavy lifting. No requirements.
You can do it in your pajamas… there are no cameras. It’s just you, asking your heart and soul how you were meant to show up and serve.

It will be a small, intimate group. And I truly hope it will include you.

First, watch Ann Wilson reach into her 62-year-old heart and pull out her purpose.

And then meet me here at 8:00 a.m. Pacific. (Click for link to enter the session.)

Rock and fucking-roll, my friend.
